The University of London Chamber Choir (ULCC) is a high standard, dynamic and expressive choral ensemble formed of current and former students from the colleges of the University of London. We are a small choir of 30 members, singing a diverse repertoire of sacred and secular music spanning well over five centuries. We perform several concerts a year to enthusiastic audiences in London, usually at our lovely home St. George’s Bloomsbury. We have also led Evensong at Southwark Cathedral and regularly perform further afield; recent concerts include Ely Cathedral and venues in Norwich, Ludham and Littlebury. We have also undertaken international tours to Milan and Malta. In addition to our members’ strong musical capabilities, we are also a very sociable bunch, often found having a post-rehearsal dinner or relaxing in the local pub.
We are currently under the baton of interim conductor Greg Windle, who has previously served as an exciting and much-loved assistant conductor to the choir, as well as singing with the choir for many years. We are currently in the process of selecting a new long-term conductor.
This year we released our second CD ‘What Cheer!’. This recording will get you into the Christmas Spirit with traditional classics such as Stille Nacht, as well as more recent festive favourites by John Rutter and Benjamin Britten. In 2011, we released our first CD 'Simple Pictures’. This recording reflects our varied and contrasting repertoire, ranging from well-known gems of early music by Byrd, Tallis and Pitoni, to more contemporary choral music by Olivier Messiaen, Eric Whitacre and Bob Chilcott. If you would like to have a listen to or purchase our CDs, please see Albums.
In addition to our regular concerts and performances, we are also available to perform at corporate events and weddings. Please email us for enquiries and more information.
We are always looking for sponsorship, so if you would like to contribute please do get in touch!
